What "Pool" Really Means on a Sarasota Zillow Listing
If you've been searching for homes on Zillow, you've probably noticed that a lot of listings in Sarasota check the "pool" box. And if you're like most of the buyers I work with, you've clicked on that filter and assumed it narrows things down.
It doesn't — not really.
In Sarasota, "pool" can mean almost anything. It might be a small concrete pool built in 1970 with a basic deck and no enclosure. Or it might be a resort-style setup with a sun shelf, a heated spa, a screened enclosure, custom lighting, and water features that make the backyard feel like a private retreat. Both show up the same way in a Zillow search. Both just say "pool."
That difference matters — a lot. Not just for your enjoyment, but for the price. A well-appointed pool and outdoor living space can add $100,000–$150,000 to a home's value here, and for good reason. Florida buyers overwhelmingly want a pool, which means the market rewards them accordingly. But you can't always tell from the photos what you're actually getting.
This is where it pays to dig deeper before you get attached to a listing. If you can't figure out who the listing agent is to call them directly, there's an easy fix: just ask Google or an AI tool — "Who is the listing agent for [address]?" — and you'll typically get a name and contact number within seconds.
Better yet, work with someone who already knows which neighborhoods and price points are most likely to deliver the outdoor living experience you're actually looking for.
That's exactly what I help buyers do.
